The 3 Day Chemical Breakdown Diet has been called by many other names such as the 3 day heart diet, the Mayo Clinic Diet, and the Cleveland Clinic Diet. Don’t be fooled by any of these names because it is simply a very low calorie fad diet. There’s no magical chemical breakdown in the 3 day chemical breakdown diet.
That said, the 3 day chemical breakdown diet is useful for losing about 5 pounds in a very short amount of time. It is a modified fast that allows you to have about 750 calories a day. Of course, this isn’t sustainable over time, but if you are looking to lose a small amount of weight in a very short period, it can be a godsend.
On most sites promoting the diet, you will find warnings that you must follow the stated rules because the foods work in concert to break down fat. There is absolutely no scientific evidence for this. Instead, as I mentioned before, this diet works because it has very low calories. Any 750 calorie diet will do the same.
Still, the 3 day chemical breakdown diet provides a nutritious balance of foods for the 750 calories that you do get. If you are going to try to go on a modified fast, you can do worse than the 3 day chemical breakdown diet.
Here’s the meal plan on the diet:
Day 1:
Breakfast
1/2 Grapefruit or Juice
1 Slice of Toast
1 tbsp. Peanut Butter
Black Coffee or Tea
Lunch
1/2 cup Tuna
1 Slice Toast
Black Coffee or Tea
Dinner
2 Slices (3 oz.) of any Meat
1 cup String Beans
1 cup Carrots or Beets
1 small Apple
1 cup Vanilla Ice Cream
Day 2
Breakfast
1 hard-boiled Egg
1 Slice of Toast
1/2 Banana
Black Coffee or Tea
Lunch
1 cup Cottage Cheese
or: 1/2 cup Tuna
5 Saltine Crackers
Dinner
2 Wieners
1 cup Cabbage or Broccoli
1/2 cup Carrots
?? or Turnip Greens
1/2 Banana
1 cup Vanilla Ice Cream
Day 3 on the 3 day Chemical Diet looks like this:
Breakfast:
1 hard-boiled Egg
1 Slice Toast
Black Coffee or Tea
Lunch:
1 Slice Cheddar Cheese
5 Saltine Crackers
1 small Apple
Black Coffee or Tea
Dinner:
1 cup Tuna
1 cup Carrots or Beets
1 cup Green Beans
?? or Cauliflower
1 cup Cantaloupe
?? or 1 small Apple
1 cup Vanilla Ice Cream
Do you have a big date Saturday night? Go on the 3 day chemical diet on Tuesday and watch the results. You’ll finally be able to fit into your skinny jeans. Want to knock them dead at your 10 year high school reunion? You’ll make them wish they had voted you prom queen when you go on the 3 day chemical diet.
But, as a lifestyle solution, the program is simply too limited in calories to be sustainable. Women need a minimum of 1200 calories a day over the long haul just to function.
You’ll be hungry on the 3 day chemical diet. And, that is manageable for three days. But long term, you should try a more balanced diet plan.

Why is it that when exercising comes to mind everyone immediately thinks they have to join a gym? Maybe it is from watching all these weight loss and fitness shows on TV. Anyway getting fit doesn’t have to be expensive. If you look around your home and even your local community you can probably find ways to get fit without spending a ton of money.
To start with why not use the stairs in your home to get fit? If you have ever run up or down stairs you know how winded you can get. So why not start stair climbing on a daily basis. Aim to walk up and down the stairs five to ten times each day. Then once you have this mastered the next day add one more set. If you can do it once you can do it again, so there is no reason to do fewer repetitions.
If your stairs at home are really steep or you just want a change of venue, see where in your town you have lots of stairs. Is there a church, library or community building that has lots of stairs? How about your local mall? The mall is a great idea for rainy days plus you can walk around the mall as well as climb the stairs and get a great workout.
For those who live in a community with lots of parks or nearby trail walks you may find nature walks that incorporate stairs. These are the kind that are built right into the ground and are not as evenly spaced. This way you will have to adjust your steps to navigate the stairs.
If your child is in soccer, hockey or baseball you can walk the flight of stairs on the stands while your child is playing or practicing. This doesn’t allow you to have any excuse about not having time to exercise because of after school activities.
If you haven’t tried climbing stairs in a while you will be surprised at just how good of a workout this is. Your leg muscles will be burning afterwards and you’ll find yourself huffing and puffing. If you experience shin splints they will go away in about a week or two. This is just a sign of your muscles becoming adjusted to your new activity.
Stairs are available almost everywhere and you shouldn’t have any problem finding a set that you can use each day. It wasn’t that difficult to find a low cost exercise solution now was it?

When thinking about heart disease, we know that a change in diet is often needed. In today’s world of fast and convenient foods, people think more of saving time than saving calories and fat. If we can be just a little bit more conscious about what we are eating, then we can greatly reduce our risk of heart disease in the future.
One of the best ways we can change up our diet is by restricting our use of solid fats like butter, bacon, and gravies. These are known as Saturated and Trans fats. We often use these fats to help prepare the food we cook. Some great low-fat alternatives are olive oil, yogurt, and fresh fruit. Try to also be label-conscious and read the contents. Look for ingredients like polyunsaturated fats found in nuts and seeds and monounsaturated fats found in canola and olive oil. Be wary of the boxes labeled “reduced fat” though as they often still contain the bad fats.
Something else we can do is to choose meats that are lower in fat. Fish is always a healthy choice and most even contain the heart-healthy omega-3 fatty acids our bodies need. These omega-3 fatty acids can actually reduce our levels of triglycerides. Lean cuts of pork, beef, chicken breast and turkey are also great choices. Beans and other legumes are a wonderful meat alternative, while still providing our bodies with needed protein. Soy and tofu have become popular in recent years also adding to the meat alternatives list.
The largest dietary change we can make is adding more fruits and vegetables. Many Americans do not even eat half of the servings the food guide recommends as it is not convenient. Fruits and vegetables are chock full of vitamins and minerals, the things we need each and every day.
Soluble fiber is often found in fruits and vegetables and is an excellent source for reducing our cholesterol levels. Fruits and vegetables have also been proven to help reduce heart disease. By snacking on these tasty treats, we are less likely to snack on something higher in fat.
It is easy to keep fruits and vegetables in the fridge ready for snacking as most just need a quick rinse in water and we can munch away. Sometimes even keeping vegetables such as carrots, broccoli, and cauliflower already cut up in the fridge or a bowl of fruit on the counter makes it easier for us to grab and go if we are in a rush.
Whole grains, as found in bread and pasta, are another great dietary change we can make to help our heart. Choosing 100whole wheat breads and pastas gives us the nutrients we need that we cannot get from other foods. We also need to be aware of our salt intake. Salt is a huge heart enemy resulting in higher cholesterol levels. Processed foods often have added salt, so by choosing fresher foods, we are cutting our salt intake.
By adding more of these foods to our diets on a daily basis, not only are we reducing our risk of heart disease, but an added side effect is weight loss!

Getting a well chiselled abdomen totally depends on how you work them ? no one was born with a six pack abs. You will have to understand that just like any muscle, if you want to build definition, you will have to hit your muscles with various resistances and at various angles. Well, regular crunches will help you tone your abs, but if you really want the chiselled look, you will have to abdominal machine too.
What You Need to Perform machine Crunches
You will an abdominal crunch machine, time and dedication.
How to Perform Machine Crunches
Look for the abdominal crunch machine at the gym. This machine has a seat that is attached to a weight stack. You will also notice that a padded area is also attached to the weight stack, around the area where your chest should be when you sit down (on the seat). It is not uncommon to mistake this machine for the back extension ? this is because these two machines look very similar. The one and only difference between the abdominal crunch machine and the back extension machine is way the padded bar moves. The padded bar moves backward on the back extension machine and moves forward on the abdominal crunch machine.
Start with a light weight so that you see what you can successfully handle for repetitions. Choose a weight that you can handle for at least 10 repetitions. You should also make sure that you adjust the height of the seat and the placement of the padding according to your height. Some abdominal crunch machines have charts that provide institution for appropriate settings for both the padding and the seating.
When you sit in the machine, place both feet flat on the ground. You should place your chest on the padding and make sure you place your hands where you feel the most comfortable. You can place them on the pad or place them on the handles attached to the seat. Make sure that you keep your back and abdominal muscles tight all through the movement in order to avoid injury and to also get the best out of the exercise. As soon as you are seated in this position with your chest placed on the pad, you are ready to start this exercise ? this will be the starting position.
You should push your chest forward on the pad and ensure that your abdominal muscles do a lot of the work. When you lean face first towards the ground, you should begin to feel a tightness in your abdominal muscles. Do not over do it! Just make sure you lean as far forward as you possibly can until you feel a tightness/contraction. When you feel the tightness in your abdominal muscles, hold the position for up to a couple of seconds.
Go back to the starting position, and repeat the exercise for at least ten (10) repetitions. Stop if you feel that your abdominal muscles are beginning to cramp. It is really a great idea to warm up the abdominal muscles before, during and after the exercise in order to avoid discomfort or injury.

A calorie intake counter is a digital food journal. The advantages of a calorie intake counter over a pen and paper journal is that the amount of calories in each food are already programmed into the counter. This means that you get a running total of the amount of calories you have consumed throughout the day.
One of the biggest problems that dieters have is that they have no idea of the actual calories they are consuming. For one thing, they underestimate the actual portions they are eating. They also underestimate the calories in each portion. Many foods that are supposedly “good” for us are very high in calories. For instance, a one cup serving of orange juice has 122 calories. Many dieters try to stick to a 1200 calorie diet. So, that glass of orange juice, which is supposedly part of a “balanced” breakfast, takes up 1/10th of the calories for the day! A calorie intake counter will help you avoid pitfalls like this one.
It will also provide a running total of the amount of calories you have had. So, if you have an extra cookie at lunch, you will know that you have to make up for it by exercising more or eating less at dinner.
As the calorie intake counter works like a journal, you will be able to identify your “trouble spots” after using it for just a week. For instance, you may find that the lunch options you have at work force you into eating more calories than you would “budget” for that meal. Therefore, you might make the choice to pack your own lunch so that you can have your calories spread out through the day in a way that you would prefer.
You will also be able to track how many calories you are burning with a calorie intake counter. Again, you may be surprised by some of the results. For instance, running a mile can burn off 78 calories if you are a 120 pound woman and 117 calories if you are a 180 pound man. Knowing exactly how many calories you are burning rather than just estimating is a good way to stay on track as far as losing weight.
Another thing that might surprise you is that you can burn calories by doing things you wouldn’t consider exercise. For instance, playing with your children, playing the piano, and gardening all burn calories.
A calorie intake counter is a sophisticated journal to help you keep track of your weight loss journey. You can buy them as stand alone devises or buy add ons to your iPhone, PDA, or other electronic equipment. In this day and age when we keep track of everything electronically, a calorie intake counter is just one more tool in the battle of the bulge.

The upright barbell rows will help to strengthen your back, which is why it’s one of the best back exercises. It will also go after your shoulders and traps. This exercise will help cut your shoulders and traps while building the muscles in your back.
To perform the upright barbell rows, you will need a barbell with weights that you can easily lift.
Once you have the proper weights on the barbell you will place your feet flat on the floor. Place your feet so they are even with your shoulders. Keep your legs and back straight throughout the complete workout.
When gripping the barbell your hands should be placed just a little less then your shoulder width. You will place your hands over the bar with your palms facing the wall behind you. The weights will be at the top part of your thighs with just a slight bend in your elbows. This is the starting position for the upright barbell rows.
Best back exercises tip: Always make sure to perform warm-up sets before starting.
Start exhaling and begin lifting the bar up toward your chin. When you are lifting the bar make sure you are using your shoulder sides for lifting. Your elbows will bend while you are keeping the bar close to your torso. Lift the bar until your elbows are above your shoulders. Your forearms will be lower than your elbows and the bar will be almost to the top of your chest. Hold this position for a few seconds while keeping your back and torso straight.
Start inhaling as you bring the bar back down to the starting position. You want to lower the bar slowly so your muscles are being stretched at an even pace. Do the recommended number of repetitions.
If using a barbell is awkward and you feel like you have no control over it, then there is other equipment that may be used. You can go to the low pulley machines that have a straight bar for you to grasp a hold of. Set your weights so you can manage them easily and do the same steps as if you were using a barbell. Barbells are another option but, are only recommended for people that know how to properly execute the exercise correctly.
When doing the upright barbell rows remember to always keep your torso and back straight. If you do not keep your back straight then you will run the risk of seriously hurting it. When doing the repetitions you do not want to strain, stop or even relax. If you do this it is a sure sign you will end up hurting your self. When you have completed the recommended repetitions your shoulders and traps will definitely be burning. This is a sure sign that you did the exercise properly. Now you to know why one of the best back exercises is the upright barbell row!
Now that your shoulders, back and traps have been stretched you are ready to start giving your lats a real work out. Your back muscles will love the wide grip lat pull-downs. This exercise is also going to help build up the strength and muscles in your upper back.
